The Akron - Canton Am Pro Basketball Summer League was created to give elite college and professional basketball athletes the opportunity to compete in an elite basketball league during the summer season in Cleveland, OH. The league creates a great positive social environment for the Cleveland Ohio Community, and gives young student athletes the opportunity to see competitive, professional-level basketball action up close and personal for free.

 

 

The League follows NBA standard rules. By the third game all rosters must be finalized. Exceptions include student athletes going to summer school or foreign visit and serious injury to athlete.

  • Four 10 minute quarters
  • Timeouts - One timeout per quarter (No Carryovers)
  • 1st half clock stops last minute of the Second Quarter
  • 2nd half clock stops last two minutes of the Fourth Quarter
  • 1st overtime 3 minutes with one additional timeout being added
  • 24 second Shot Clock
  • 2nd and each additional overtime period will be 2 minutes with one additional timeout being added
  • Potential playoff athletes: must have played in at least 3 regular season games to qualify for playoffs
  • Each team shall include on its roster no more than two players with intercollegiate basketball eligibility remaining from any two-year or four-year college. (other than a Divisions II and III member institution) All Division I players must limit their competition to one team in one league. Individuals involved in coaching activities must have been approved in accordance with guidelines established by the NCAA basketball Certification Staff. 
  • Only two Division 1 student athletes from the same school can be on the same team.
  • Only two Junior College student athletes from the same school can be on the same team.
  • Division II and III universities can have an unlimited amount of student athletes on the same roster.
  • All Division I players must limit their competition to one team in one league.
  • Potential playoff athletes: must have played in at least 3 regular season games to qualify for playoffs.
  • By the 3rd game rosters have to be finalized

  •   TECHNICAL FOULS
  • 1.Any player on any one particular team, who receives TWO technical fouls in one game, would have to sit out the rest of the game.
  •   2.Any player, who receives a total of FOUR consecutive technical fouls during the season, would be suspended for one game. If the same player picks a consecutive SIXTH technical foul, they would be suspended for two games, and lastly a SEVENTH technical foul would suspend you from the league completely. 
  • TEAM JERSEYS

    •  1.Jerseys shall be provided daily for each team, and are due back immediately after the team has finished playing their game.

    •  2.Jerseys will be washed and cleaned before usage at every game.
    •  
    •   3. These jerseys are yours to keep only at the conclusion of the summer league.
    •  
    •   4. Thus each person would be held accountable for the jersey they use and if him/her fails to return the jersey after their game, there would be a $25 dollar replacement fee. This fee would only be returned back to you after the end of the season and after the second borrowed jersey is returned.

     

    TIME

    •  1. All games would start on time as posted on the website (www.clevelandamakronampro.com).
    •  
    •  2.There would be a ten minutes grace period, before the clock starts.
    •  
    •  3.Once the clock starts, 2 points would be given to the team who is on the floor and ready to play every minute.

     

     

    OVERALL

    •  1. No aggressive behavior towards the referees would be tolerated.
    •  
    •   2. Profanity and foul language directed to an opponent, referee or fan would not be tolerated and could lead to a technical foul.
    •  
    •   3. Be respectful to the gym facilities and do not loiter.
    •  
    •   4. Sportsmanship at all times is expected.
    •  
    •   5.Teams are only permitted to dress ten players.

     

     

    REFEREES

    • All referees are required to sign the score sheets after each game they officiate in order to get paid.
